In these days of bad news, reality TV (which is seldom real and often not fit for TV), and disappointing former role models, we would like to treat you to something very special. We would like to introduce you to an inspiring story of an epic journey, undertaken for selfless purposes, by average Americans, and, best of all, it is 100% true!
The Four Horsemen Of The Heartland takes the reader along on a five month sojourn, on horseback, beginning on April 19, 2002, at the site of the Murrah Building in Oklahoma City and ending September 5, 2002, at the World Trade Center in New York City. The reader will experience life, like it was lived in the old west, as they keep company with Gary, Tim, Sonny, and Fred along the trail on a journey into the history books.
Why did these four horsemen (three cowboys and one fireman) leave their homes, jobs, and families to spend five months crossing the United States; riding in rain, wind, and unbearable heat? What was their cause, which was important enough to have these four unknowns welcomed as heroes in towns across the nation, to have them interviewed by countless reporters, and asked to speak in front of thousands of school children?
Yes, The Four Horsemen Of The Heartland rode on a mission. They rode to: · Demonstrate the newly forged and unique connection between the people of Oklahoma and those of the other three targets of terrorism in the U.S. To this end, they visited all four terror locations: The Alfred P. Murrah Building in Oklahoma City; the site of the crash of United Flight 93, in Shanksville, PA; the Pentagon; and Ground Zero, in New York City. · Honor the heroes who died on Sept. 11th, by collecting money along the way, for a scholarship fund for the children of the victims. · Remember the fallen Firefighters, Police, and Emergency workers; collecting patches and badges from their brethren across the nation. · Remind America of its western heritage; of a time when, if a neighbor was in trouble, the whole community would come, no matter how far to lend a hand.
The Four Horsemen Of The Heartland is a true story of hope and heroism, told in a way that shares the joys and sorrows experienced by these otherwise normal men, who did something extraordinary out the goodness of their hearts.
